Honestly, I'm really glad that LJ has been able to provide such a vital service to Russians -- as a platform for free speech, no less! c: -- but it's a shame that really catering to that population means moving the site away from what makes so many American users love it (say what you will, but you can't deny that roleplayers buy a whole lot of paid accounts). And, like others, I'm surprised that we're a population that's so easily disregarded, given that, apparently, ours is hardly a negligible contribution.

I do hope that LJ continues to succeed as a blogging platform -- like I said, that stuff is important. But it's also good to know that it will continue to go in this direction, since it confirms my decision to move to DW.
